Commercial Document Attestation process and Services in India


The process and requirement of Commercial Document Attestation or Embassy Legalization depends on the purpose of use. The Commercial Document Attestation is required when some Indian Company wishes to establish their Branch office in abroad or the Company is giving some Franchisee or Dealer or Agency in abroad on the other hand some Company may Export their products from India. In both the cases some mandatory and relevant Commercial Documents need to be Attested and Legalized from the Concerned Department, Government of India and the Honorable Embassy or Consulate present in India of the destination Country.

In India the Commercial Document or Certificate Attestation process starts from the Attestation of Notary. Then the Commercial Certificate will be Attested from the respective Chambers of Commerce, Government of India. In the third step, the Commercial Certificate will be Attested or Apostilled** by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Govt. of India. Finally the Document will be Attested and Legalized by the Honorable Embassy or Consulate of the destination Country present in India.

**When the destination Country is a Hague Conventional Country (HCC) then the final process is Apostille of the Commercial Certificate from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Govt. of India. Point to be also noted that, some Countries are HCC still they require the Legalization or Attestation from their respective Embassy or Consulate present in India.
